Dolby's work with "synthpop" has included many albums and stage performances, including the 1990 Berlin benefit performance of the rock opera The Wall (playing the schoolmaster). He also had a co-starring role in the obscure 1990 vampire musical film Rockula. Dolby also composed music for such films as Ken Russell's Gothic, Howard the Duck (where he cameoed as a bartender), and the animated fable Ferngully: The Last Rainforest.
