Yes. The first was made in 2003, called Full Metal Alchemist. The second one was made in 2009, called Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood. The main difference between the two is that the first series only followed the original manga for the introduction basically before branching out and developing its own completely different story. This was done by the author's personal request, because the Full Metal Alchemist manga comes out monthly, not weekly, so there is not enough time for the manga to publish more storyline before the anime catches up with it, which it did. In the 2009 anime, the manga has gone much farther ahead, and now this new series is dedicated strictly to the manga storyline. It too is now catching up incredibly fast, the upcoming episode was only released as a manga chapter
