Niuman J. Romero (born January 24, 1985 in Barcelona, Anzoátegui, Venezuela), is a Major League Baseball infielder for the Boston Red Sox. He made his major league debut on September 8th, 2009 with the Cleveland Indians. Since 2005, Romero has played in minor league baseball with the Burlington Indians, Columbus Clippers, Lake County Captains, and Kinston Indians. On May 1, 2010, Romero was acquired by the Boston Red Sox for cash considerations. On July 2, 2010, he was called up to replace Ángel Sánchez, who was traded to the Houston Astros for Kevin Cash.
