The RG1822 features a mahogany body with a quilted maple top bolted to a maple Wizard Special neck with a 24-fret rosewood fingerboard with off-set dot position markers. Components include dual DiMarzio humbucking pickups, a low profile double locking tremolo bridge and a locking nut. The RG1802 is a similar model but with a flamed maple top, a different bridge pickup and black hardware. The RG1822 was produced only in 1998.
