The portrait of Charles Collins was commissioned some time in the early 19th century. In 1971, Alex and Claire Jenkins discovered the portrait at the Burton Art Gallery in New York City. They were shocked to discover that aside from a small scar on Charles' cheek, the visage in the painting bore an uncanny resemblance to their close friend, Quentin Collins. They purchased the painting and brought it back to their home in Collinsport to show Quentin.
