Edna is persistent in rallying the locals to sign a petition stating that Councillor Eric is unfit to hold public office. Val is defensive towards Eric and encourages Louise to say something when Edna comes in the pub looking for signatures. Edna tells Val she has all the signatures she needs and is going to post it first thing the following day. Val furiously tells her she’ll ruin Eric’s life, but Edna is unsympathetic. Meanwhile, Paul is left questioning his mother’s motives in defending the councillor. Could Val be hoping for romance? Elsewhere, Max prepares to leave the village but not before enjoying a bit of flirtation in The Woolpack with Chas. After building friendships with the locals will he decide to prolong his visit?
