In fact, they were suicide devices and every demon wielding a Hagan Shaft died in a self-inflicted explosion. After being resurrected by the Temporal fold performed by the Senior Partners, time in LA was reset, and everyone who died during the time in Hell was restored to life. The Lord of Sherman Oaks attacked Bro'os to exact his revenge for the shark's betrayal.
