Fantômas was a member of the original Guild. He had a uneasy rivalry with his fellow member Colonel Lloyd Venture, especially concerning of the fabled device, the Orb, in the Guild's possession. Fantômas has vested interest in using the Orb to rule the world. Fantômas was eventually kicked out of the Guild, and forms his own Guild of Calamitous Intent by recruiting musicians. According to Red Mantle and Dragoon's unreliable narrative, Fantômas kidnaped musicians to play in his band, and noted that Fantomas played the sousaphone... badly.
