Usage stats on Spoiling Attack

an Entity in Data Space: dbkwik.org

An attack made without intending to capture the area. This is often a good tactic against a foe who has split his forces but who has reinforcements coming up, leaving your attackers subject to counterattack. It can be tricky to execute, as attacking with too many units can result in the undesired capture of the area, while attacking with too few can result in an unfavorable loss ratio. Don Rae on his website prefers to use the term "Strafing Attack", but I prefer to use that to mean an attack by unsupported air units.
