Dragon Quest: Monster Battle Road is a Japanese arcade game based on Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King released in 2007, only in Japan. Players battle monsters and can win real-life cards with monster data imprinted on them. As of November 7, 2008, Dragon Quest: Monster Battle Road has contributed between 1.6 and 1.7 billion ¥ in earnings for Square Enix. A sequel, Dragon Quest: Monster Battle Road II, was announced at the 2009 Jump Fiesta in Tokyo.
