Merriam was born in New York City. She began modeling when she was six months old, first appearing in the Fisher Price Christmas catalog. She has also modeled for The Children's Place, Ralph Lauren, Toys "R" Us, Macy's, Target, Carter's, Inc., Stride Right, New York University, Half Moon Bay, Jamaica, Alvin Ailey, Parenting magazine, American Baby magazine, Baby Talk magazine, and Preparation H. She has acted in commercials, including Valvoline, Kimberly-Clark, and Sprint, but only appeared on camera for LeapFrog.
