Red priority was a Starfleet code for emergency subspace radio transmissions. In 2268, James T. Kirk, unaware that he was aboard a nonfunctional duplicate of the USS Enterprise, used red priority in his fruitless attempts to hail Starfleet Command. (TOS: "The Mark of Gideon" )
