Asela was the Chiss wife of Trivas. She was not Force sensitive, but met Trivas after the death of his first wife, Ivexew. The two married in 16 ABY and had a daughter, Eliana, in 24 ABY. To protect their daughter from the warring Areltsi, they decided to send her to Sterex in secret. To cover for her absence, Trivas made false reports indicating that the convoy transporting her away from the battlefront was destroyed by the Areltsi.
