The Midwife Machines were bulky robots which were used as Incubators for several of the earliest Judges. Some of the Midwife Machines were not fitted with the Incubator chamber so baby's couldn't be played inside of them and these versions of the robot were simply used as Nanny's for helping to take care of them until they were old enough to be recruited and join the judges.
