Dante Salvatore Monteserrano (9 November 1893 - 20 February 1944) was an Italian political and military leader in the early 20th century, and was the leader of the Italian Alliance's armies during the Italian Campaign of the French Civil War. Monteserrano, who envisioned himself as a would-be national hero and a future dictator of a unified Italy, was initially reviled, even after his death in a bomb strike in 1944, as an incompetent who was unable to defeat the Turks despite the resources at his disposal and his closeness to the Edmonian regime. In later years, however, he has become appreciated as a skilled tactician and is regarded as a minor hero in northern Italy, although his legacy is still muddled in Italy proper.
