Harold Longhurst was the son of Martha and Percy Longhurst and younger brother of Lily. Harold was born after Lily in 1926 or 1927. He was drowned in Mosley's Flash in the back end of 1929. Martha's tragedy was known to few of her neighbours. When Albert Tatlock told the Rovers regulars about Harold after Martha passed away in 1964, it was a surprise to them that she'd had a child other than Lily.
