The Ogre Mage, also known as the WzOGRE in the NES version, is an enemy in the original Final Fantasy. Ogre Mages are accomplished spell casters, and often begin a battle by casting Blink on themselves to increase their Evasion. They can also cast Dark, Sleep, Hold, and Blizzara. Ogre Mages also have a permanent regenerative ability, which restores a minimal amount of their health. When they appear in the Cavern of Earth, they are often grouped with one or two other Ogres or Ogre Chiefs.
