Claire is the mother of Della, the patient in the episode Selfish. She is married to George and is also the mother of Hugo. She was portrayed by actress Stephanie Courtney. Claire and George were faced with the choice of having Della die, or having Hugo give Della a lung transplant which would substantially shorten his own lifespan. Their argument about it drove Della to attempt suicide, and they eventually decided against it. However, when House confronted them over their choice, and Cuddy tried to defend them, Hugo overheard and decided to offer his lung to his sister despite the risk.
