The MAX imprint allows the series to deal with more mature and real world issues, such as drugs. The series received positive reviews from critics, and it was part of Marvel's idea to make Hawkeye more popular than DC's Green Arrow. The series was a maxi-series and it ran for ten issues. It takes place in a completely separate reality from the mainstream continuity or other MAX series, called Earth-199916.
