Nerim Kors was a Jedi Master who trusted Supreme Chancellor Palpatine unreservedly. His friend's betrayal drove him insane and made him fall to the dark side of the Force, and he was forced to flee known space. He traveled deep into the Unknown Regions. There, he found remnants of earlier Human colonies, as well as the Nagai, a pale-skinned, war-like race. He united these peoples into the Second Republic, which he ruled supreme and immediately began to prepare for a total war against the Empire that never came. Instead, Kors' forces attacked the New Republic in 20 ABY.
