When Sandro and Finneas Vilmar were working to take over the throne of Deyja, Duke Alarice was one of their opponents. He feared the size of their army, and wanted to take the Armor of the Damned and the Cloak of the Undead King for himself. As the two worked to increase Vilmar's realm of power, Alarice warned some of the lords of AvLee about their powerful army. He then offered that they should stop Vilmar together. The lords of AvLee didn't trust Alarice, but some of them agreed to help him against Vilmar, hoping that the undead would destroy each other.
