It is a robot that is encountered by Sonic on Saboady Archipelago's theme park. Unlike most other bosses or robots Sonic has faced in the series, the Carnival Golem is not fought due to it being an antagonistic force, but rather because it is part of a party game that is part of Saboady's theme park's attractions, where guests can attempt to beat the golem to win a prize. Naturally, Sonic accepts the challenge, and beats the golem, but doesn't actually destroy it as he usually would.
