Vanilor was a male dragon who lived during the time of the Dragon Riders as the King of the wild dragons. Eridor was his successor. This name struck Eragon as heroic, noble, and pleasing to the ear. This was the first name that Eragon suggested when trying to find out what name Saphira preferred for herself.
