Mary Wollstonecraft (April 27, 1759 - September 10, 1797) was a noted writer during the 18th century. She was born in Spitalfields, London. Wollstonecraft had a momentous but tragically brief career of nine years; she wrote A Vindication of the Rights of Woman, one of the earliest surviving works of feminism, as well as a full range of work across disciplinary boundaries separating philosophy, letters, education, advice, politics, history, religion, sexuality, and feminism itself (Johnson, preface).
