Bishop George Postlethwaite was the bishop for Hotten and the surrounding villages, including Emmerdale until the 2010s. In September 2000, he appeared when Ashley Thomas told him his decision to stay in the village. He handed the keys to St. Mary's Church over to Mark and Natasha Wylde in January 2009.
