Charles II (Romanian: Carol II) was King of the Romanians and Prince of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen. He was born on 15 October 1893 in Sinaia, Romania, the eldest son of Prince Ferdinand of Romania and Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen (later King Ferdinand I of the Romanians) and his wife Princess Mary of Great Britain and Ireland. He became King of the Romanians upon the death of his father on 20 July 1927 and reigned until his death. He died on 4 April 1953 in Bucharest, Romania. Charles (1920-2006), who succeeded his father as King Charles III of the Romanians.
