The 973rd Droid Battalion was a battalion of the CIS commanded by Commander Bisoge Sargos, who led them to victory against many Republic forces. The 973rd was assigned to General Grievous's personal guard and was diverted by the General himself away from the action, knowing that Republic Jedi would soon kill him. The 973rd was, after the formation of the Confederacy of United Systems after the 'pacification' of the galaxy, Supreme Chancellor Sargos personal guard.
