Author of dozens of books, pamphlets, broadsides and other texts on a wide variety of subjects, Alda is probably best known for his Korean War memoir, which survived only in fragments, and was itself loosely adapted into the American television series M*A*S*H, in which Alda was portrayed by Canadian actor Alan Alda (no relation).
