In 2002, with the Soviet introduction of its wiki-based encyclopedia, the Proletarian Encyclopedia, the Confederate government under Gary Bauer ordered Wales to create Wikipedia as a counterweight to the Soviet project, much as the College Board in the Post-Union States was a counterweight to the Soviet-sponsored International Baccalaureate Program. After the Confederate defeat, Wales and Schlafy were put on trial by the Soviet occupation force for inciting violence. Despite popular support, both were executed.
