Ena refuses to believe Vera is really ill. Stan asks Len for a job, but Len refuses to sack Dennis for him. Ena tells Vera to look after herself more or find somewhere else to have Christmas. Doctor Connor tells Vera to rest but Ena refuses to let her. Hilda rows with Len in the Rovers and accuses him of keeping Dennis on to please Elsie. The doctor tells Ena that Vera can't be cured and only has a month to live.
