The Alsuran Empire was at least several hundred light-years long and wide and covered a portion of what was known as the Alsuran sector in the early 25th century. Several neighboring species lived in the corridor of space between the Alsuran Empire and the rimward Krenim Imperium. The closest homeworlds were those of the Rilnar and Mawasi. The Malkothians' native star system Malkothia was inside Alsuran space. The corridor of unclaimed space between the empire and the B'omar Sovereignty was much smaller than the one separating the Alsurans from the Krenim.
