The organization played a role in May 2006 primary in defeating two Republican leaders -- Senate President Pro Tempore, Robert Jubelirer, of Altoona, and Majority Leader, David Brightbill, of Lebanon County -- who were architects of the pay raise bill. But voters' discontent went beyond the pay raise. English said those veteran lawmakers' tax-and-spend records caused the fight.
