Precipitated by the looming threat of Emperor Valak's Death Star and the recent secession of Kashyyyk from the Republic, Corellians began pushing for their own withdrawal. In order to force the matter, the Empire launched a successful invasion of the system, driving off the Republic forces. Corellia achieved semi-independence from the Republic, and the Empire withdrew.
