Rabbi Shlomo Yitzhaki (1040-1105) (usually referred to by acronym RaShI [Hebrew:רש"י]) was one of the greatest Jewish Rabbinical scholars of all, born in Troyes, France he was an expert in all departments of Jewish lore as contained in both the Scriptures and the Talmud, and indulged much in the favorite Rabbinic allegorical style of interpretation. His commentary on Tanakh and Talmud are the most frequently used commentaries in Yeshivas around the world.
