Birthday Nightmares is a running gag, where Garfield, during the week leading up to his birthday, has various Birthday Nightmares about growing older. These range from anamorphic hearing aides and senior citizens cards to gray hairs and liver spots(which Garfield cannot see). Garfield is usually more annoyed then frightened by them. One exception was the nightmare about the coffee cup who contained decaffeinated coffee with nonfat milk and artificial sweetener.
