Garnet(VFM009) was born on March 22, 1998 in the Frisky. His mother was either Jubulani or VYF004 and his father was a wild male who had taken dominance of the Frisky. Garnet was born in a large mix litter, hie litter-mates were VFP005 , VFP006 , VFP007, Gem (VFF008), Amber (VFF010), VFM011 and VFF012. The Frisky were a young small group with few adults. Sadly most of Garnet's litter was lost leaving with with just two litter-mate sisters Gem and Amber. Garnet survived through his first year. At a year of age he started to help out with the pups and keep a sentry post while the Frisky were out foraging. Garnet also started to rove at other groups.
