When John Petrucci's daughter, Kiara, was born during the Liquid Tension Experiment 2 sessions in 1999, the rest of the group, Mike Portnoy, Jordan Rudess, and Tony Levin continued writing. The album Spontaneous Combustion, released in 2007, is a compilation of unused jam sessions the trio recorded that weren't released on Liquid Tension Experiment 2.
