Luke Skywalker, attending the academy as a member of the Pioneers, was responsible for destroying a maverick moon on a collision course with the planet. Following the moon's destruction through the use of Zukonium rays, Princess Leia Organa awarded Skywalker a medal of honor for saving the academy.
