Herman Strauss was a friend of Andre Toulon. Before becoming Pinhead he was a German man named Herman Strauss. Strauss was a truck driver who secretly smuggled food to the Jewish ghettos; as a result, he was executed in the gas chamber by the Nazis for treason. Toulon used his soul to bring Pinhead to life.
