Richard Avery was born in Staffordshire and appeared in two minor roles on Coronation Street: in February 2000 he played a Magistrate who sentenced Les Battersby to one hundred and fifty hours of community service for benefit fraud and he reappeared in October and November 2002 as neurosurgeon Robert Orm who handled Sarah Platt's case after she was badly injured in a car crash. He is married to actress Andrea Wray.
