Seppun Jifuhime was the daughter to a yojimbo and in 1110 mother of Seppun Toshiken. When Toshiken was born she had a secret letter sent with the artisan Doji Teioko to inform the father, Emerald Champion, Kakita Toshimoko. Jifuhime was sent to a monastery, and her son was given to others of the family to raise.
