The eighth episode of the second series, and overall finale of the time travel police procedural television series, Life on Mars, was first broadcast on 10 April 2007. The episode, known erroneously as "Undercover", was produced by Kudos Film & Television for BBC One. DCI Gene Hunt, DS Ray Carling and DC Chris Skelton returned for the sequel series Ashes to Ashes in 2008.
