In the mirror universe, the Badlands was a region of space known for its plasma storms. In 2371, the newly formed Terran Rebellion set up several bases in the Badlands. When Jennifer Sisko was close to finishing a transpectral sensor array for the Alliance, Miles O'Brien took Benjamin Sisko hostage from Deep Space 9 to pose as his deceased counterpart and convince Jennifer to stop her project as the Alliance would be able to detect every rebellion base in the Badlands.
