The purpose of the High-Altitude Flying Device is found within its name. It is a machine with the capability of ascending to heights of several hundred feet in the air. From this point, the pilot will guide the Device through bombing runs in which the last member of the crew, known as the "Bombardier", will drop specialized bombs upon a target. These bombs can range anywhere from clusters of paper bombs, to complex behemoths which can cause widespread damage. Due to the high cost of production, there are only a small number of High-Altitude Flying Devices in existence. They make up the vast majority of Tenkūgakure's Airborne forces.
