Irakian fever is a highly contagious but curable disease. Vaccines for the disease can be synthesized on a starship or starbase with adequate medical facilities. In 2372, the USS Cantabrian (NCC-24705) responded to a distress call from the distant Caldea IV colony to assist with a break-out of Irakian fever. The Cantabrian medical team, led by chief medical officer Dr. Marie Bourget successfully quelled the disease in the colonists. (Star Trek: The Cantabrian Expeditions: "Isolation") Pronounced "ee-RAKE-ee-an". We assume Irakian fever comes from a place called Irakia.
