The United States Army Special Forces, known as the Green Berets because of their distinctive service headgear, are a special operations force and the primary special forces of the United States Army. Although the Green Berets actually originated in Great Britain, the Americans have adopted it and many mistakenly refer to the entire Special Forces as a blanket term by simply the "Green Berets". John Rambo and Colonel Sam Trautman were both Green Berets with the Special Forces. The Soviet Spetsnaz are similar to the American Green Berets.
