'Karen Farris was a Human Starfleet officer and ex-Maquis leader in the 24th century. Karen served as first officer of the Federation starship USS Valiant during that vessel's harrowing seven-year journey in the Delta Quadrant. Upon Valiants return, Farris later served as its captain, leading the allied fleet against the Borg Collective at the Azure Nebula during the Borg Invasion of 2381. She is good friends with Timothy Watters, her former commanding officer of the Valiant. She was also friends with Riley Shepard, Kestra, Savok, and Lorvak. She is on good terms with former rivals, Lillian Crusher and Tina Campanelli. She is the daughter of Captain Tyler Farris and the great-great-granddaughter of Nilz Baris.
