Shanties are buildings in Tropico 3 and Tropico 4. Shanties are essentially nothing more than "official" shacks, being made of the same corrugated metal and warped wood as them but being built in a bigger and more permanent fashion. Like shacks, shanties don't have any upkeep and don't provide any rent. Their main purpose is to provide dirt cheap housing and give shack-dwellers a slightly better place to call home.
