A Gothwen (S."Battle-Maiden") was an elvish Warrioress or Amazon. Elven Women were seldomly trained as warriors, but there were always a few exceptions who chose the way of a Gothwen.These Women took part in athletic feats and bound up their hair as a crown,but few of these Amazons went abroad to fight in the great battles.
