The 1977 Coca-Cola 500 was a Winston Cup Series (now Nextel Cup) event held at Pocono Raceway on July 31, 1977. Benny Parsons had a fine afternoon, leading 118 of the 200 laps in route to a half-second victory over Richard Petty. Petty, meanwhile, captured the points lead from Cale Yarborough, who had been in charge all season. Petty, though, still only had eight points on Yarborough (6th). Stats
